PROTOOLS TIP: ONE STROKE KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

Most producers are just like me in that they are mostly self taught Pro Tools users.  I never took the time to read the manual so I never learned all the super convenient keyboard shortcuts.  It blew my mind when I went to sessions with “real engineers” and they hardly ever took their hands off the keyboard while recording/editing.

Try these Pro Tools keyboard shortcuts: Make sure your “keyboard focus” is turned on.  Keyboard focus is the “a…z” button above your bars/time/tempo/marker counters at the top of your edit window.  Keyboard focus lets you execute shortcuts with only 1 keystroke.

ZOOM IN: “T” key

ZOOM OUT: “R” key

UNDO: “Z” key

COPY: “C” key

CUT: “X” key

PASTE: “V” key

I told you they were super simple.  BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!
