I’m gonna say right up front…..I love this free kit! The fine folks at Midi Mechanics Showroom have posted a free download of the Casio Rapman Rap-1 samples. In the post at Midi Mechanics Showroom, they say: “The Casio Rapman is probably the most bizarre of all Casio toy keyboards from the 80s and 90s. The RAP-1 is the first of the two Rap-themed keyboards from the big ‘C’ and was released in 1991.” Oh btw……HAPPY NEW YEAR!
A KVR Audio user, hbr, posted in the forum to let everybody know that Hardballs Records released the Roland Alpha Juno 2 sound bank for free download. Hardballs Records said: “Another legendary instrument from mid-eighties got into my hands – Roland Alpha Juno 2. It’s a hybrid analog synthesizer, manufactured by Roland in 1985, famous for its hoover and reese bass sounds. This is exactly the same synthesizer that created the original Hoover sound, a patch called “What The” originally created by the Eric Persing for Roland Alpha Juno. Juno 2 is just an upgraded version of Roland Alpha Juno; therefore we have the original Hoover sound. Additionally, I have sampled a couple of bass sounds, which some of you might find useful…As usual, each sound is in a separate bank for the NI Kontakt and EXS-24 samplers.” I’ve written about Hardball before here so they have more free stuff available if you’re interested.
A user at KVR Audio, Cyforce, posted in the forum to announce an exclusive release of 700 MB of free samples from Resonance Sound. After you’ve visited a website or thread to download free drums and samples, it’s easy to forget that those sites/threads are constantly updated with new goodies. So….this is your friendly reminder to go back and check out the “Free Drum Kit” thread at FutureProducers. Since the last time I posted about this thread here, there have been several new additions including a “Maybach Music Kit.”
I have mentioned some Sam Greene kits on Download MY Drums in a previous post, here, where I recommended his free EXS24 Beat Box kit, but today I checked back with his site and found a free acoustic kit. This is a GREAT acoustic kit that is very flexible. On his site, Sam says: “This is my Sonor Force 3001 sampled and painstakingly placed into EXS24. There at least 4 velocity levels for each sound. Many more for the snare and kick. The snare has a left and right hand so you can play rolls on D-1 and E-2 easily. There is also a snare drum with snares off down below the kick at A-1 and G-0.” This is a real natural and crisp sounding kit that’s a must have for your collection.
A KVR Audio user, core, posted in the forum to offer his free Jackie FX Bank for free download from Rekkerd.org. In the post, he says: “This pack contains 81 samples (16bit/44.1khz) and is fx – oriented – meaning it contains sweeps, hits, reverse and a couple of other fx-type sounds. Probably most suitable for electronic-oriented music genres.” Rekkerd always offers high quality stuff so go scoop this up!
A KVR Audio user, EVAC, posted in the forum to offer up a free download of 25 samples and loops from his Cleanroom Electronica sampler pack, the full version of which was just released by Sony. EVAC says that the full version includes 1gB of data and boasts 949 royalty-free.wav files. Check out the free sampler pack and if you’re digging it, go support EVAC by purchasing the full version for $69.95.
I was recently reading this article about the new Jay-Z and Kanye West, Watch the Throne, album and Verse Simmonds was quoted as saying, “‘Yo, I think this dubstep stuff is going to be the next new flavor that everybody gotta be on.” Right on cue a KVR Audio user, anmlsrmnml, posted a link in the forum to a free download of dubstep samples. The download includes 35 dubstep loops and 20 “chunky” drum hits to use in your productions.
A KVR Audio user, hbr, posted a link in the forum to a free download of a Yamaha PSS-790 drum kit. On his site, hbr said: “All sounds in this bank are the original sounds from the Yamaha PSS-790 without any kind of processing or effects. We also preserved the original volume differences among the sounds, although that doesn’t always sound that good…“ The Drum kit includes 51 drum samples in both EXS24 and Kontakt formats. LOVE IT.
